Frequently Asked Questions

studio acquisitions · private sourcing & curation

01

What is Studio Acquisitions?

Studio Acquisitions is the independent curatorial practice of Moment Solomon. I source, acquire, and curate fine art, vintage fashion, and jewelry — and, when the project calls for it, the spaces they belong in.

The practice is based in Chicago and works with clients remotely. I’m currently serving as a juror for the Masur Museum’s 64th Annual Juried Competition.

02

What services do you offer?

Private sourcing of fine art, vintage fashion, jewelry, and objects; curatorial consultations; editorial writing; spatial projects; bespoke web design; and, on the real estate side, multifamily co-investment in Chicago.

Each one starts from the same place: knowing what you're searching for, researching the market, and identifying the value of what you find.

03

How do art curation and private sourcing fit under the same practice?

They're two halves of one act. Curating is deciding what belongs — reading a piece, a collection, or a room and understanding why it works. Sourcing is going out and finding it, then acquiring it at the right price.

Taste is a form of self-knowledge and perspective, and acquisition without it is aimless. Studio Acquisitions holds both sides of the work, so every find is researched, placed in context, and chosen for a reason.

04

What can you source for me?

Fine art, vintage fashion, jewelry, and objects — anything you can describe with intent. When the project calls for it, sourcing can extend to the spaces they belong in.

05

How does private sourcing work?

Submit an inquiry on the booking page and select Private Sourcing. I'll follow up to talk through what you're looking for and how we'll approach the search.

06

Why does a curatorial practice design websites?

Curation is about how things are seen, and a website is often the first room someone walks into. I build bespoke sites with the same attention to presentation: custom landing pages, multi-page sites, full sites with copy, and investor portals. You can request a site through the booking page.

07

Is the real estate side part of Studio Acquisitions?

Yes. The investment practice applies the same discipline to property: researching under-valued multifamily and mixed-use buildings in Chicago neighborhoods like Wicker Park, West Loop, and Pilsen, underwriting them carefully, and co-investing alongside partners.

08

Where can I read your writing or see your work?

Essays on taste, style, and acquisition are linked under curatorial theses. Weekly artist case studies are on Instagram at @lostmomentstudio, and a Digital Collection is coming soon.
